This is an actual conversation with mac customer support:

  • Hi, my name is Scott. How may I help you today?
  • You: I am interested in buying a mac book
  • Scott: Good afternoon
  • You: what are its capabilities
  • Scott: Fantastic! The new MacBook systems are incredibly powerful. What types of things are you looking to do with your new MacBook?
  • You: mostly gaming
  • You: and work
  • Scott: Ok. Are you looking to do more along the lined of 3D gaming or a different style of gaming?
  • You: yes 3d
  • You: one of my games needs at least a 2.5ghz processor
  • Scott: I understand. The MacBook does only have a shared graphics memory, drawing from the computer’s physical memory, so it’s not ideal for the high end 3D gaming. What games will you be playing?
  • You: and 2gb flash sd ram
  • You: doom3
  • You: and another game
  • You: o forgot the title
  • Scott: Ok. For those higher system requirements, you would want to be looking at the MacBook Pro with the Intel Core 2 Duo processors with speeds more at the 2.33GHz, and the dedicated video.
  • You: okay….
  • Scott: The MacBook’s memory will be the shared, and would only equate to 64MB of video memory.
  • You: i need about 128
  • Scott: Our base model of MacBook Pro will ship with a 128MB ATI Mobility Radeon card, so it could definitely do the work.
  • You: what is the macbook’s warranty?
  • Scott: Other models of that MacBook Pro will have the 256MB Mobility Radeon.
  • Scott: Apple products come with a complimentary one-year limited warranty. We also offer the AppleCare Protection Plan for Mac and iPod.
  • You: would it cover a friend putting bolonga in the cd drive?
  • You: because that happend to me once
  • You: it had some mustard too
  • Scott: No, it would not cover accidental or intentional damage to the system, and we generally recommend either renters or home owners insurance. Most of those insurance companies have affordable policies to cover electronics.
  • You: oh thank you for that tip
  • Scott: You’re welcome.
  • Scott: When do you plan on purchasing a new system?
  • You: can the dock menu go on top of the screen?
  • You: sometime soon
  • You: and im used to it on the top on my current mac
  • Scott: There is the menu itself, which is always on the top of the screen on the Mac OS, and then there is also the icon dock, which can be placed on either side of the screen or on the bottom.
  • You: not the top?
  • Scott: There is no option directly within the Mac OS to allow that dock to run on the top of the screen.
  • You: thats where my current one is
  • Scott: That is correct.
  • Scott: There may be 3rd party utilities that can change the location of the dock, though it would not be a part of the OS itself.
  • You: oh
  • You: thank you
  • Scott: You’re welcome.
  • You: but i dont recall installing any third pary software
  • Scott: Are you already familiar with the current promotions you would be eligible for with a computer purchase? I would be happy to link to the promotions page so that you can see all of those in full.
  • You: no thank you
  • Scott: Alright.
  • Scott: May I help with any other product or order questions before you proceed?
  • You: does the mac have a bios
  • Scott: No, the Mac OS X uses a Unix core, and does not use BIOS as a Windows based computer would.
  • You: i heard you ship many macs empty, only the cas of the mac comes with it.
  • You: that seems a waste of 3000 dollars
  • Scott: That’s definitely strange. That’s not something that I have heard.
  • You: i had that happen to me before
  • Scott: Certainly anything like that would be covered through our Customer Service group.
  • You: how do you get to ms-dos?
  • Scott: There are no DOS options within the Mac OS with the Unix core. You can acces the Unix components within the Mac OS through a utility included called Terminal.
  • You: oh
  • You: thank you
  • Scott: You’re welcome.
  • Scott: Are there any other questions that I can assist with, or are you ready to return to your shopping?
  • You: does it come with any software?
  • You: can a mac access the internet, i heard they have no default wireless cards
  • Scott: Our systems come with lots of software included. On each product selection page in the store, you will see a list of all of the included software. I can provide you with a link to the MacBook listing as an example.
  • You: no thank you
  • You: or network ports for that matter
  • Scott: All of our Macintosh systems include built in ethernet, for connecting a high speed modem (Cable or DSL) or directly to a network for easy internet access..
  • You: wireless?
  • Scott: In addition, we include AirPort for connecting to wireless networks for file and internet sharing.
  • You: i ate half a mac once!!!!!!!!!!!!
  • You: really
  • You: i did
